B9 Fire & Security is independently audited and certified across every part of the work we do. The credentials below are checkable against the issuing bodies. Where a public verification link is available, it is included.
SSAIB approved
B9 is approved by the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), one of the two UK accreditation bodies recognised by police, fire and rescue services and insurers for security systems installers. SSAIB approval applies to our intruder alarm, access control and CCTV work.

BAFE SP203-1 (fire alarm systems)
B9 is certified under the BAFE SP203-1 scheme for fire detection and fire alarm systems, covering design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. The certification is administered by SSAIB as the certifying body, which is why the registry entry below shows the same record covering both schemes.

ISO 9001:2015 certified
Our quality management system is independently certified to ISO 9001:2015, the international standard for quality management. The certification covers every part of our service delivery, from initial design through installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. Certificate details are available on request.
FIA-trained engineers
Our engineers are trained through the Fire Industry Association (FIA) and refresh their qualifications regularly to stay current with the latest British Standards. FIA training is the recognised competency benchmark for engineers working on fire detection and alarm systems in the UK.

PAS 79 fire risk assessment
All B9 fire risk assessments are carried out using the PAS 79 British Standard methodology, the recognised approach for fire risk assessment in the UK under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Our Fire Risk Assessor trained at the Fire Service College and is a member of the British Fire Services Association and the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers.
BS 5839-compliant fire alarms
All fire alarm systems we design, install and maintain are compliant with BS 5839 (Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings), the recognised British Standard for non-domestic fire alarm system design and maintenance.
Registered Paxton installer
B9 is a registered installer for Paxton, the leading UK manufacturer of door access control and intercom equipment. Registration means our engineers are trained and certified by Paxton directly on the latest equipment and system designs.

Founded by Stephen Ross on 1 September 2000. B9 has traded continuously from the same registered business for over a quarter of a century, growing from a single-person fire extinguisher service into a ten-strong fire and security team covering Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Greater London.
